Paris Fashion Week 2011

Paris fashion week brings each season’s hectic schedule of fashion shows to a close, capping off a whirl-wind tour of international fashion weeks that starts in New York, moves through London and Milan, and ends in Paris. As with each, PFW occurs twice a year, taking in the autumn (fall) / winter and spring / summer seasons.

Below you’ll find coverage of Paris fashion week for 2011 and past years including 2010.

Some collections push fashion forwards, others inspire your sartorial choices. Louis Vuitton’s men’s autumn / fall 2011 does the latter. Opting towards safer (commercial, even) cuts and colours, this is a collections whose charm are in those added details: the cut out shirt, the blazer whose cut and belting make it at first seem more of a tunic, and the shawl neck, chunky belted cardigan I would love to have amongst my own wardrobe. Even if the cuts and colour palette aren’t to your liking, click through this collection (full pictures after the jump) for great styling direct from the catwalk of Paris fashion week.

Here’s something of a two in one piece of inspiration for you, with another view of Britt Maren‘s striking hairstyle that is perfect inline with 2011’s hair trends. Her white blonde colouring grabs the eye, while the dramatic, almost pixie crop, haircut maintains the gaze.

When we last looked at handbag trends for both the current season and for 2011’s fashion trendswe started off by saying that “the phenomenon of the ‘it’ bag has dissolved.” And we stand by that – we’re moving in to a golden age of aesthetics, where great design trumps big-name label. So, from the streets of Paris, is one of such handbag to look out for. Yes, it’s from a luxury house, but it’s not from a fashion house that Miss. Average would be able to name, nor one that is likely to be faked with the same ferocity of the likes of Louis Vuitton or Prada. It’s the Celine Boston tote, and here it is in a cream and black colour combination.

When jumpsuits first started to return to the scene, we were seeing lots of playful and prettyexamples. The direction the trend has taken has produced some even better looks – like the more tailored, sophisticated take worn here.

Getting an eclectic look right is something of an art; one that the likes of Abbey Lee Kershaw is well known for, one that often involves folk-ish details like prints and embroidery, lots of texture, and lots of jewellery and piles of rings. I don’t know who this young thing is, but she’s got an eclectic look working well for her. Love the oversized leather satchel.
